Team Caterpillar is a running group like no-other, so there is no wonder we get asked quite a lot of the same questions over and over! We've rounded up some of our most frequently asked questions below, but if you need to know anything else then please get in touch!
Couch 2 5K is designed for total beginners or those returning following an injury, the clue is in the title. We hear a lot of people say I will join this when I’m fitter, faster, thinner which is not the idea at all. Another popular question is am I too old? You are never too old, in-fact 41% of our members are in the 46-59 age range and 11% over 60.
The slower and more unfit you are the better. It’s hosted over 10 weeks free of charge but, you must register your place to attend. From 2021 we will have sessions starting through Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter.
We offer morning, evening and weekend sessions, all sessions start from The Station, Richmond. Please download the Run Together Runner App or you can book through our website.
These runs are for everyone who can run 5K and want to feel part of the Team Caterpillar family. This is a great opportunity to meet friends and run a little further but with recovery stops.
The question we hear the most is, “but I’ll be holding everyone up" - NO YOU WON'T. Faster runners loop back so they get extra mileage and they love to support you. I will always be at the back with you, my favourite place, we start together we finish together and no one is left behind.
These sessions are designed to increase your speed and strength. So if you're looking to improve your 5K Speed or build stamina to complete a 10k this is for you. This session is as hard or easy as you make it.
Similar to social runs but you must be able to run a minimum of 10K preferably no slower than 13-minute miles, with regular recovery stops throughout. Followed by coffee/breakfast where we can..
We meet at the Station Cinema Richmond North Yorkshire unless specified otherwise. Our Beginners Trail Running sessions meet in various locations throughout the Yorkshire Dales on the 1st Sunday of the month.
All other runs not listed on the website are “unofficial” runs where members arrange their own meetups with friends. If you’re ever feeling like you want someone to run with just post in our Facebook group, there’s always someone who’s running!
A very popular question, especially for new members who have never run before! You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in - there is no need for expensive leggings and branded tops as long as you feel comfortable enough to put one foot in front of the other! We'd recommend purchasing some supportive trainers such as a pair from Asics, Saucony or Brooks but a basic pair is fine to get you started! It's not a fashion show and no one will judge you for what you're wearing, the important thing is you're joining in!
Yes all our running sessions are free of charge all we ask is that once you are an established member you consider purchasing an item from our online store. This not only helps to keep the group operating (websites don't come free), it also helps promote us. Everything we sell is top quality and you will look great wearing it and be easily identified by other Caterpillars out and about!
Our coaches and run leaders need to ensure accurate details are recorded for Health & Safety reasons; to be aware of any medical issues and your next of kin details in the event of an emergency and to make sure you are all back safely from a run.
We also have to comply with operating within Covid-19 secure conditions, regulatory bodies, and insurances etc. It's also an effective way of contacting you quickly should there be a change to a run but don't worry we won't spam you and all the information we hold is treated confidentially and compliant with GDPR.
All sessions are booked via the RunTogether Runner app - please see the informational video below on how to book via the app, or you can book here!
